Swissvoice ePure cordless phone announced

by Edwin - on November 9th, 2012

How many of you still have a landline at home? If you have answered in the affirmative, then you are surely part of a dying breed. In fact, mobile phone proliferation has been going on for quite some time already, that I cannot remember the last time someone called me on my landline. Wait a minute, it was a couple of weeks ago when one of those pesky telemarketers who seem to know just when you are about to sit down and have a delicious, home cooked meal, when the phone rings. Well, our landlines tend to be boring and of course – wired, but Swissvoice has a different idea with their ePure cordless phone. The Swissvoice ePure cordless phone will deliver unprecedented audio and ergonomic comfort, bringing the DECT cordless phone category to an even higher level than before, making it the ideal upgrade to landline calling.

You can be sure that with the ePure cordless phone, your home phone will never be the same again. It will deliver a stylish statement as a functional piece of art in any home that wants to look modern. Sporting a generous acoustic chamber as well as speakers that help optimize sound volume and clarity wherever you go (within range of the wireless signal, of course), the ePure cordless phone will come in an ergonomic design so that you can hold the handset in comfort even though you are about to sit down for a marathon catching up session with your girlfriend whom you have not met for a decade.

Other attractive features that are packed into the ePure cordless phone include a backlit LCD display, up to 10 hours of talk time on a full charge, an alarm to wake you up, different ringtones for that added bit of variety in life, and auto answer. Not only that, Fulleco technology has been used to lower the body’s exposure to electromagnetic emissions by 65%, not to mention it has been specially designed to consume less power so that our environment can get a breather. The ePure cordless phone can be yours for $99.99 a pop.

Boombox Metal Wristwatch

by Edwin - on November 9th, 2012

Now here is a “boomtastic” timepiece to wear around your wrist, where it merges the old school with the new. The $89.99 Boombox Metal Wristwatch comes with an LCD digital time display, allowing you to read the time at but a glance. Sure, it is not going to consume a whole lot of D batteries unlike boomboxes of old, and it will be unable to play back your favorite MP3s (although we do wish that there was an edition that could, but then again, it would mean a pretty big wristwatch to accommodate the larger battery), but at the very least it conveys a sense of style to those who come across your path.

Features of the Boombox Metal Wristwatch include a locking clasp, side push buttons, and a display that will shut itself off automatically after just three seconds in order to conserve battery life in the long run. I do not think that this is suitable for action at a corporate boardroom meeting, but it might be the ideal Christmas gift for your teen who is into all things retro. Surely he will be the envy of his friends, don’t you think so?

Sceptre does it again with a new 32” LCD HDTV

by Edwin - on November 11th, 2012

If you are on a tight budget and have always had a mind to upgrade your TV or purchase a new one to replace the older model in your bedroom or living room, then the name Sceptre would definitely have crossed your mind. After all, isn’t this the kind of brand that most folks can resonate with, especially when it carries the values of delivering the best bang for your hard earned buck? Sceptre has proven itself in the past with quality LED and LCD HDTVs as well as computer monitors, and they are back again this time around with their latest 32” LCD HDTV which was specially designed to deliver superb image quality as well as long term energy savings, and it is better known as the Sceptre X328BV-FHD.

The new Sceptre X328BV-FHD comes in a trend setting jet black slim design, and is more than capable of handling brighter and more robust colors thanks to a wide range of features such as a 1920×1080 resolution, 60 Hz Refresh Rate, 5,000:1 contrast ratio, and 3D Comb Filter among others. The unit itself will also be equipped with all the necessary bells and whistles of more expensive units, where among them include 5.1 digital audio capabilities, multiple HDMI and a USB port for easy connectivity, with the option to mount it to a wall or to have it function as a computer monitor.

Since you are a cost conscious consumer, surely you would also be right on top of things where being environmentally friendly is concerned. The Sceptre X328BV-FHD is Energy Star V5.3 compliant, and is touted to use up just approximately $11 of energy each year, now how about that for savings in the long run? Not only that, it is said to have a rated lamp life of over 50,000 hours – and that is equivalent to over 5 years of continuous usage, which is far more TV than you should be watching in the first place anyways.

The best part of the Sceptre X328BV-FHD? It retails for a mere $499 a pop.

A True Lifesaver

by Alison - on November 10th, 2012Whether warfare, police work, fire danger or toxic areas – society has not come up with a foolproof method of entering into unseen places. Fiber optic cameras have proven useful, but have time and distance limitations. Sure, animals are being used in some situations. But should any life – human or otherwise – have to be lost? Unfortunately, lives are often lost in the attempts to understand the extent of danger or damage.

Bounce Imaging developed a solution that looks to end the potential sacrificing of lives in hazardous situations. Their ball shaped gadget contains cameras to capture panoramic views and sensors to measure things like temperature. Consider it the first eyes on the scene. Data and images are then transmitted to a mobile device. Of course being a ball you can throw it. No need for elaborate setup.

The device is gaining momentum. Recent press and awards give credence to its viability as a solution for dangerous or hazardous situations. In fact TIME magazine recently named it one of the Best Inventions of 2012. And with an estimated cost of just $500 a piece, I find it hard to believe why any law enforcement or military establishment would not invest. Especially if lives can be saved.

Molecular Inspired Comfort

by Alison - on November 9th, 2012

Somewhere in the world exists the ultimate lounging furniture. Recliners are ok, and certainly have come a long way. Heck you can get massagers, phones, heating and even a fridge built-in. And comfort is good, but it is still a chair. Bean bags have made a resurgence. But have you ever tried to nap on a bean bag? You can’t get away from constantly shifting foamy bits inside.

The creative brains at AnimiCausa found a line of  stylish furniture that can join in the “ultimate comfortable seating” game. Welcome to the Feel Seating System. Composed of a number of soft round cushions, you arrange the Feel System based on your needs. Stretch it out as a bed, curl up one side as a chair or couch, or just create a nest based on how you want to cozy up. The design was inspired by molecular structure if that helps illustrate its versatility and flexibility. Do a Google search for Feel Seating System for more ideas on how to fold it, bend it and shape it.

Like the recliner or bean bag – there are drawbacks. In the case of the Feel Seating System price may play a part. The small child version, the Petit, goes for $599 with the mac-daddy deluxe going for $7,950. So though it may not be an addition for the average household, for businesses or agencies looking for a stylish addition check it out. And perhaps the day will eventually arrive when the ultimate in comfort and price arrives. We shall see.

Star Wars R2-D2 Inflatable R/C

by Edwin - on November 10th, 2012

The world’s – or should I say, the galaxy’s most beloved astromech droid, R2-D2, has just gotten yet another boost to its portfolio of devices and toys that will further enslave the minds and wallets of parents (and Star Wars fans) everywhere, coming in the form of the $59.99 Star Wars R2-D2 Inflatable R/C. Yes sir, can you say that this is the ultimate galactic accessory?

Since this is one R2-D2 that is inflatable, it is a good thing each purchase will be accompanied by a pump for easy inflation, instead of you having to huff and puff your way while roping in the help of a certain Big Bad Wolf. Unfortunately, while you cannot send any kind of holographic messages on this puppy, this inflatable and feisty droid measures over 65cm in height, and has detachable drive units that ensure R2-D2 remains compatible with other Star Wars characters. You can opt to spin it 360 degrees, drive forward, back, turn to both left and right, and get this – in the indomitable spirit of R2-D2, it also boasts of a self-righting system that ensures it remains upright even when knocked over or driven down stairs. Up to 3 units can be driven at once for some R2-D2 mayhem at home, and the handset requires a single 9V battery, while the drive unit runs not on lightsaber crystals, but a quartet of AA batteries.
