J. Gilligan’s Bar & Grill is a restaurant and bar in Arlington, TX. If you live or have lived in Arlington, you have definitely been to J. Gilligan’s. And if you have attended the University of Texas Arlington, you most definitely have been to J. Gilligan’s and even more so have enjoyed one of their cold beverages.
J. Gilligan’s has been around for as long as my memory goes back. I remember some of my older family members spending a lot of time up there and some even worked there. It’s just one of those places you love to go to and hang out with friends. They have live music on a regular basis in addition to very good food and ice cold beverages. If you ever get an opportunity to visit J. Gilligan’s, the must have dish is their signature Irish Nachos. I promise you can’t go wrong. If you haven’t had them before, they are sliced potatoes, with the skins on them, topped with melted cheddar cheese, bacon bits, chives, onions, tomatoes, and jalapeno peppers. Sound good? Well it’s even better then it sounds. And that’s not all they have. The steak…good. Burgers…good. Chicken fried steak…good. Grilled chicken…good. You really can’t go wrong with anything you order.
Irish NachosSo, yes the food, drinks, friends, and live music are good. So what else? It’s a cool little place. The best way I can describe the place is a shack. When you walk in, you kinda wonder if the place is safe. It’s got a ton of character…in a very good way.
J. Gilligan'sSo yes, I highly recommend J. Gilligan’s if you ever get the chance. It’s great food and a great place to eat it.
