Evernote 5 for Mac beta is now available, offers 100+ new features

A few days ago, Evernote announced the upcoming beta release for Evernote 5 for Mac. This feature brings with it over 100 new features, as well as an updated user interface. Now the application is available for download, with Evernote cautioning users to remember that it is still in beta and might be buggy at times.

Says the announcement, “BETA software is not final, which means that using it comes with some risks. These can range from corruption of your notes to data loss. If you’re not comfortable using beta software, we recommend waiting a bit for the general update to go live.” If you’re willing to take the plunge, however, you’ll find a variety of new features.

New features include an improved Notes List, which offers a single list containing both personal and joined notebooks. There’s a Snippets view for seeing a note’s notebook, as well as its shared status. Also added is a Cards view for browsing notes in the form of nifty little cards. Tossed in, among the myriad of other features, are a handful of shortcuts and changes to increase efficiency.

To get the new Evernote 5 for Mac beta, launch the application, then select “Software Update” from Preferences. In the window that opens, check “Update to beta versions when available.” Follow this up by clicking “Check for Updates Now” in the Evernote menu, then sit back and let the magic happen. Nintendo Pokemon Conquest new features revealed

The franchise that is usually on the bleeding edge of connectivity and high-end features for Nintendo’s portable systems (read: rudimentary basic services on other systems) is making its presence on the 3DS known. While not a lot of the newly announced features actually push the 3DS to its limit, they will nonetheless be a very welcome addition to long-time franchise fans.

For example, Pokemon Conquest will have a feature called Pokemon Passwords. Nintendo will distribute special passwords through online outlets and physical media that allow users to encite an “outbreak” of a certain Pokemon. This means it could be possible to capture rare creatures early on in the game, if players happen to have the appropriate password. There is also a system called Perfect Link, which allows players to create strong bonds with their Pokemon.

And finally, the option that takes advantage of the 3DS’s Internet capabilities is called will be for downloading new episodes. “Additional episodes are available to players after playing through the first episode of the game, and others will be available for download over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection after the game’s launch on June 18,” Nintendo explained.

Vlingo Labs Beta App Tests New Siri-Like Features For Ice Cream Sandwich Devices

Ever since Samsung announced S-Voice, an exclusive voice-activated virtual assistant for the Galaxy S III, people have been scrambling to try to install it on other devices. S-Voice is actually powered by Vlingo, which has its own voice app in the Play Store that has been around for quite some time.

Now, Vlingo has released Vlingo Labs, a beta version of their latest virtual assistant that provides much of the same functionality as S-Voice minus the device restrictions. Labs is where Vlingo will test new features, such as being able to wake up Vlingo with a spoken word, SMS/search/voice calling dictation, and truly hands-free operation. These features, when fully fleshed out and tested in the Labs app, will then graduate to the full Vlingo app.

Vlingo Labs looks and acts a bit more like Apple’s Siri, bringing Android closer to parity with iOS’s much heralded voice assistant.
